This project will enable the strategic rehabilitation of Littoral Rainforest located specifically at Dolmans Point Reserve, Sawtell. The primary focus of this project will be to undertake weed management actions to facilitate recovery and restore the ecological function of Littoral Rainforest impacted by invasive weed species post 2021 hailstorm. Staged approach to ecological restoration will be implemented over an area of 5 ha through a collaboration of Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance, Coffs Harbour Aboriginal Land Council rangers, Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare and Coffs Harbour City Council. The on ground strategic weed management actions will benefit landscape connections between larger areas of habitat, ensuring corridors for migration, colonisation and interbreeding of plants and animals. The project area contains 8 vegetation communities.
Threatened ecological communities covers approximately 46% (9.96ha) of the site with 0.21ha of Swamp Sclerophyll Forest on Coastal Floodplain, 0.58ha of Swamp Oak Floodplain Forest and 9.18ha of Littoral Rainforest. Threatened flora and fauna at the site includes Scented Acronychia and Koala.
